Aloe Vera is a plant native to southern Africa and is today grown primarily in Texas. For centuries, it has been used topically for minor burns, cuts, and other skin irritations and is widely found in many cosmetics and hair and skin products.
Internally, it may be used for gastrointestinal concerns such as constipation, diarrhea, Crohn's and colitis. Aloe is a mixture of antibiotic, anti-fungal, astringent, and coagulating agents; thus, it is great for healing, circulation, and inflammation. It stimulates cell regeneration and immunity and has a soothing effect on the gastrointestinal system. Aloe also contains naturally occurring antioxidants in the form of a vitamin B complex, C and E, plus beta-carotene which is converted by the body into vitamin A.
