Coconut oil...not just for the kitchen
As if coconut oil doesn't already have enough health benefits of it's own, we've recently found out that it also has incredible effects when used topically on your hair.
Yes...your hair!
According to a recent article by Self Magazine, coconut oil has been found to actually penetrate hair which means that it goes deep down into the inner part of the hair strand. While many other hair products are used topically to help with shine and texture, coconut oil actually gets all the way down to the follicle and promotes strength and flexibility!
When hair is stronger and more flexible, it's less likely to snap off or break and is not damaged as easily when combed and styled.
Another benefit of coconut oil is that since it physically gets inside each strand, it has "super staying power", and works like a mousse or hair spray to keep fly aways down. "If you have dry, damaged hair and are susceptible to hair loss and breakage then you should definitely stock up on coconut oil."
Whether you use it to scramble your eggs or coat your hair, coconut oil offers a number of health benefits, and it's natural, to boot!

Believe it or not, My dogs are on the yeast program and we use Coconut oil topically on hot spots and they get some in their food which is homemade, just ground meats, turkey, vegetables and coconut oil!
It's Amazing!!

I agree with Laura on the hotspots. Coconut clears up my dog's hotspots in literally days. I also use this wonderful "product" to remove makeup and use as a moisturizer.

I read that coconut oil may be helpful in treating autism, would you have any info on that?

I use it in baking, but it is also wonderful for intimate time with hubby. Natural-no chemicals, and smells nice, too!

Coconut is abundant on the islands. I have been using coconut oil all my life, for cooking and as lotion. My skin is smooth, shinny hair, long and beautiful. No falling hair yet with my age.

nellie, coconut oil is recommended in the GAPS diet (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) which is very effective in 'treating' autism ~ turning things around really. As well as many other issues plaguing our society these days. google it and good luck!
